Alicia DiMichele Garofolo an alleged Mob Wife goes to court. |
Well VH-1 could not have picked a better time to launch “Mob Wives.” Times they are a changing. More and more we are reading about mob wives who not only marry into the mob, but become actively involved in illegal operations. Such is the case with real life “mobette,” Alicia DiMichele, 38, married to Edward “Tall Guy” Garofalo, Jr., alleged Colombo associate. Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn allege that Alicia was involved in aiding the “Colombos embezzle union pension and benefit-plan money while working at mob-controlled construction companies.”
The mother of three began her criminal career when her family was suffering financially due to her husband, Edward’s love of gambling and his very bad luck. When he owed serious money to casinos in Atlantic City and Vegas in 2002, Alicia filed for bankruptcy. She then got a job with a porn video business that was allegedly tied to the mob. She must have been successful because she and her husband were able to buy a new business a short time later.
Federal authorities claim that Alicia and her husband allegedly laundered stolen money from the pension and benefit plans through Colombo “businesses.” Their evidence comes from wiretaps and witnesses. She could be sentenced to 5 years in prison if convicted. From the looks of her picture (above), she doesn’t seem to have a care in the world. Read the full story here.

Interesting read Chiara, thanks for posting it.
I know it used to be part of the mob culture to keep business separate from family most of the time. However, for the last couple of decades the women have often times been in the 'business' with the loved ones.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I know things have been changing and we are going to get a good idea of how much on I Married A Mobster.
Very prescient! Gods article too!
