Renee: I really don't like violence.
Dr. Phil: Well you took to it like a duck takes to water!
Before the airing of Season Two’s premiere episode, Renee and Drita flew out to LA to tape a segment with Dr. Phil called “B-Wars.” Well, that segment aired today and I am going to blog it for you.
Introduction: the show is about women who call themselves the “B” word. “Screaming, cursing, fighting is a typical get together with your girlfriends” on VH1’s Mob Wives. The first question Dr. Phil says he wants to ask Drita and Renee is “What the hell are you all thinking?” He jokes and says he is sensitive to “hair pulling.” The mob wives come out later in the show.
Renee and Drita come out to meet Dr. Phil. He describes their fights as “fierce.” He shows a clip of a fight from last season, at Carla’s party, between Renee and Drita. He asks the women what’s going on with them. What about the hair trigger reaction? They say for the most part they get along and like each other. Renee explains that the confrontation with Carla was an issue over Carla’s boyfriend being disrespectful. He wants to know what they think of the clip. Renee explains the inappropriate touching. Dr. Phil says he understands that, but this was a hair pulling, drag out fight. An expert explains that the pressures on women today are causing them to take their stress out on each other. Dr. Phil says Mob Wives is as real as it gets. Renee and Drita say it’s real. Dr. Phil says nothing they say can justify this kind of acting out. The expert says they should use their words instead of getting physical. Renee says she tried using words, but once someone puts her hands on her then she has to defend herself. Renee says she always feels bad afterwards.
A new clip from the rooftop rumble. Dr. Phil wants to know how they know each other. Drita explains that she has been a friend of Jennifer’s for a very long time. Drita says she has been fighting from her earliest memory. He asks if they worry about being role models for young women and children. The shows are making it seem that fighting is normal for women. Drita says most of her fights, 90% of them, were about fighting bullies in school for other kids, like the one in the wheelchair. Renee says she doesn’t like physical violence and Dr. Phil shoots back, “well you sure took to it like a duck to water.”
Dr. Phil explains, the more secure you are in yourself, the less sensitive you are to what other people say and do. If we know who we are, we don’t feel the need to defend that all the time. We don’t need people to approve of us to feel good about who we are. Renee says, she has an insecurity problem and it might translate the wrong way. She says she knows she is a very nice and giving person. Renee says she is sweet like “sugar,” but that is not the way she come across and wants to change some things about herself.
The fight scene from the balcony is shown from season two. Renee sighs. Dr. Phil says “what the hell was that?” Dr. Phil is shocked, and says he is tuning in, he has to see what going on. Renee says that was her birthday party and they ruined it.
Closing remarks. Thank you to the guests, Renee Graziano and Drita D’Avanzo
