"The Walking Dead: Four Walls And A Roof" Recap

Forgive me for being absent for last week's barbeque episode. I had a buuuuusy week ahead of me and needed my beauty sleep. So let's kick off this episode recap!

The episode kicks off with Garreth and the Cannibal Crew deliciousl gnawing on Bob’s leg, savoring every bite, thinking they are driving Bob literally insane between being tied up, his leg being eaten by fellow humans and the threat of hungry walkers breaking the windows in a shed they are locked up in. However, Bob has the last laugh (literally and figuratively) when he shows Garreth that he’s been bitten and is, therefore, eating TAINTED MEAT!! Garreth and the crew spit out their meat, horrified while Bob maniacally laughs. Garreth finally kicks him in the head, knocking him out cold.

Back at the church, with Carol, Daryl, and Bob missing, Sasha bursts out of the church in the middle of the night to look for Bob but is approached by two walkers. Rick and Tyrese chase after her and pull her back in. Infuriated, Sasha barges back in the church and demands Father Gabriel tell them what is going on because they are being “watched” and there is a “connection”. After Rick steps in and calmly asks Father Gabriel what he is hiding, Fr. Gabriel breaks down and confesses; at the beginning of the apocalypse, Fr. Gabriel locked the church and refused to open it for anyone. Families with children begged for his mercy and damned him to hell while they were being torn apart by walkers. The incident left Fr. Gabriel haunted and feels that Rick and the group are his “punishment” for his sins. Before Fr. Gabriel can speak more, noises are heard outside. Rick and the gang go outside to find Bob lying in front of the church unconcious. As they scramble to pick up Bob, shots are fired from Garrett and his men. Rick fires back but they take off. Rick turns around to find the letter “A” has been written in blood on the church wall.

As they flee back inside the church and Bob regains conciousness, he tells Sasha and the rest that Garreth and his gang severed his leg and ate it. He tries to explain the area he was help captive at and tells the group he had been bitten. As Sasha tries to take in the tragic news, Fr. Gabriel tells the group it sounds like Bob was descibring a school  not too far. Fr. Gabriel than offers Bob a couch in a spare room to lie down. While Sasha comforts Bob, Rick and the gang prepare to hunt down Gareth. However, Abraham insists that they leave immediately for D.C. Rick boldly demands at Abraham that they are not going anywhere and it was stupid to go out in the middle of the night. Abraham and Rick began yelling at each other, nearly coming to blows when Glenn gets in the middle. He demands Abraham and his gang stay for another day and after that, he and Maggie will join him on his journey to D.C. Abraham will only stay half a day and insists on taking the bus as well. Rick reluctantly agrees.

Figuring out Plan B

Rick, Michonne, Abraham, Tara, Glenn and Maggie are ready to take off but Sasha stays behind for a moment with a resting Bob, coming to terms with his fate. Tyrese comes in and tells Sasha she empathizes with him because “I felt the same way (with Karen)”. “All you can do is forgive,” he advises. “Forgive them?” Sasha retorts angrily. “Forgive them for killing him and everyone else?” Tyrese insisted that she still had a choice. Sasha then gives Tyrese the dagger and tells him to kill him before he wakes up into a walker. Sasha joins the group in the night while the rest hide in the room.

Garreth and his men barge into the church, armed and ready to kill. “We know you’re here...this place isn’t very big,” Gareth taunts. “Father, if you come out, you can take the baby with you and you can leave....” Fr. Gabriel sits near Judith, praying his rosary as the rest are armed and ready. But baby Judith begins crying, giving away the location. But before Garreth and his men can barge in, two of the men are shot in the head from behind. Rick emerges from the dark shadows, telling Garreth to drop his weapon. Rick shoots Garreth’s fingers as a warning. The group lays down their weapons, all except Martin, whose convinced that they can’t lose. Abraham sneaks up on him, rifle pointing at his head, when Martin finally surrenders. Garreth pleads for mercy, telling Rick they really were good people that accepted newcomers but that when “they” showed up, everything changed. Garreth pleaded with Rick to let them go and they would never cross paths ever again. But Rick tells him that he had a promise to fulfill in the form of a red-handled machete and brutally slashes Garreth with it, with Michonne and Abraham massacaring the others as Glenn and Maggie watch on. After the slaughter, Michonne reunites with her katana that she found in Martin’s bag. Fr. Gabriel comes out, horrified at what has happened. “This is the Lord’s house!” he exclaims. “No,” Maggie said; “Not anymore. Just four walls and a roof.”

Early the next morning, the group gather around Bob to say good-bye as he weakens. He asks to then speak to Rick holding Judith alone. Bob thanks Rick for giving him hope that there are good people in the world; “You took me in and accepted me,” he recalls fondly; “Look at her...and tell me that the world won’t change...” The two say good-bye and Sasha returns to the room, holds Bob’s hand and says one final goodbye before his heart stops and she breaks down in tears. She leaves the room, knowing he will turn soon and Tyrese stabs him in the head. Meanwhile, Abraham and his group, along with Maggie and Glenn, leave for D.C. Abraham hands Rick a map and tells him once Daryl and Carol are found, to find them in D.C. The group solemly leaves and Abraham drives the bus off into the distance. Rick opens up the map to find Abraham’s route marked to D.C. with a note:

“I’m sorry for being an asshole earlier. Come to Washington. The new world needs Rick Grimes!”

Later on in the day, Rick finds Tyrese burying Garreth and his men. The two talk about Terminus: “It nearly killed me,” Tyrese said, “No it didn’t,” Rick replied.

Later on that evening, Michonne and Fr. Gabriel sit outside on the steps. Fr. Gabriel cannot sleep because of what has happened. Michone convinces him that over time, he will get used to it. Before they can talk more, they hear rustling in the woods. Fr. Gabriel goes back in the church and Michonne goes to the source of the sound. Michonne beams as she sees Daryl peek out through the woods but then realizes Carol isn’t there.

“Where is Carol?” she asks concernly.

“Come on out,” Daryl says to someone....

* * * *

So what happened to Carol? IS she still alive or did Daryl bring someone familiar....maybe Beth?? That's what my bet is on...

Will Rick and the gang eventually reunite with Abraham and his crew?

"The Walking Dead: Isolated" Episode Recap

As Glenn and Maggie keep on digging more graves in the prison yard, horror stricken Ty is coming to terms with the death of Karen after discovering her body was burned (alongside with David). Ty explains to Rick he saw the blood trail and smelt the burning. He goes straight up to Rick and demands Rick investigate who did this and bring them to him. Daryl is trying to hold him back and Rick is trying to be rational with him but Ty is out of control with rage. Daryl tries assuring him they are on the same team and when Rick mentions Karen’s name, Rick and Ty get into a nasty fistfight as Daryl tries to break it up. Both Rick and Ty are bloodied and bruised up.

Hershel tends to Rick’s wounds and asks Rick how he is holding up mentally since “everything we’ve been working so hard to keep out found its way in”. Rick assures him that the threat has always been there. Hershel tells him there’s a council meeting tomorrow. A total of 12 survivors have died from the mysterious flu with 2 more murdered and burned. Meanwhile, Ty is furiously digging Karen’s grave. Bob the medic shows concern and wants to get him cleaned up and looked at. “Not until they are in the ground!” Ty demands. Bob sees how serious he is and starts helping him dig. After Hershel takes care of Rick, Glenn confronts Hershel and tells him that he wants to contribute more than just digging graves. But their conversation is interrupted when a coughing Sasha walks by and stumbles into the cell to see the doctor. Sasha walks into the isolation cell full of sick and dead patients, calling out for the doctor. One of the patients locked in the cell has turned into a walker. The doctor stumbles in, telling her "it’s starting".

At the counsel meeting, the crew discuss what to do to the sick patients. Hershel suggests that while people may get sick, it’s the symptoms that killed them. Hershel suggests a veterinary clinic about 50 miles away  and Daryl and Michonne volunteer to go on the run. In the meantime, the crew will separate the most vulnerable and most sick to those that just caught it. Carol and Rick are out pumping water for the crew but one of the water pipes is blocked so they suggest going out later on to fix it. Carol goes on to the prison to deliver the water when Rick approaches Ty, who just buried Karen. “I’m sorry about what happened,” Rick said. Ty still is adamant that Rick find out the killers. Rick asks Ty if Karen or David had any hostility or animosity towards any of the survivors. Ty said the two got along with everyone. Rick concludes that since they were the only two sick, that they were probably killed to spared the others. Ty is not at all happy at the rate that Rick is going to solving the murders but Rick assures Ty that helping the sick patients is the main priority. Back in the prison, Rick tells Carl to watch the kids. Carl asks what might happen if someone turns. Rick tells him to fire only if he absolutely has to. Back in Glenn’s cell, Glenn is sitting on the bed and leaning over. Maggie walks in but Glenn stops her. “I have it,” he replies.

                                                                                                                                       

Daryl is checking the car when Michonne approaches. Daryl tells her he’s glad she’s here because he assumed she would just be running  off. Michonne gets defensive and tells her she will not be running off. They debate whether adding someone to their group run. Rick tells them he wants to stay behind and keep watch. Meanwhile, Ty visits the isolated cell but Daryl comes up to him and asks him if he wants to go on the run with them. Daryl warns him that Ty standing guard will do nothing unless he goes with them to get the medicine. Daryl tells Ty to reconsider. Hershel is in his “office” and thinking about what his next action should be. He takes out a coffee cup and gets an idea but before he leaves, Carl catches him. Hershel tells him to keep his distance and that he’s sneaking out to the woods. Carl warns Hershel that he will tell Rick…but Hershel still insists on going out. So Carl decides to go with Hershel. Carol is leading more sick people into the isolated cell…including Lizzy. Carol tries to comfort her. Lizzy asks Carol if she can tuck her in but she tells her that Glenn is the “best tucker”. Lizzy gives Carol a big hug before going in. Maggie is talking to Beth and baby Judy between a closed door. Beth is trying to get Maggie to refocus  and tells her she still has a job to do.

Out in the woods, Carl is keeping watch as Hershel is picking a bunch of herbs. Hershel comments it might be safer outside in a few days than inside the prison but Carl disagrees as he spots a decaying walker lying under a tree. Another walker sneaks up behind him who has its leg caught in a trap. Carl readies his gun but Hershel says he doesn’t have to and they walk back to the prison. Meanwhile, in the isolated cell, Ty tries to comfort a sick Sasha through looking glass and to tell her to think about getting better because Daryl and a small group are going out to get medicine. Determined to get medicine for her, Ty decides to join the run with Daryl, Michonne and Bob. As frustrated Carol tries to fill up what’s left in the water buckets, Ty walks up to Carol before they take off for the run. Ty asks Carol if she can look in on Sasha from time to time. As Ty walks away, a frustrated Carol kicks the buckets of water and begins sobbing.

Before Hershel can sneak back, Maggie confronts Hershel. Maggie demands him to go back into quarantine. But Hershel says he will be no use and with the herbs, he can make a hot tea to use a natural remedy to help ease the flu symptoms. Hershel is confident that even though he may be sick, he can give the tea to the patients and help relieve their symptoms so they don’t die. Hershel lectures them that they are all risking their lives with every breath, sick or not. Hershel then covers his mouth and nose and Maggie opens the door to let him in. 

Back where the burnt bodies were found, Rick investigates the scene and notices that there’s fresh blood on the door handle. Outside the prison, Carol is distracting the walkers with a strange mechanic as she goes out in the small creek to fix the clogged pipe in the stream. Rick notices that as she is outside the fence, walkers are slowing creeping in her direction. However, Carol seems to not be too phased by this as she moves faster at fixing the pipe. Rick runs down and yells at her to run. He gets in outside and shoots a few walkers while Carol runs to safety. Rick lectures at Carol and tells her that they were going to fix it tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Daryl, Michonne, Bob and Ty are in the car on their run. Daryl turns on the radio and when he tries to get a CD in, they all notice that through the static, they can hear a voice. As Daryl turns the dial and tries to find a frequency, they look up and realize that they entered the fields of hell as thousands of walkers approach them. They decide to make a run for it. Daryl uses his bow as Michonne slashes the walkers. Bob goes out to run and shoots walkers, calling out for Ty. Ty sits in the car for a moment, blinks and then jumps out. He yells at the crew to run as a swarm of walkers surrounds Ty, who is hacking walkers all over with his hammer.

In the isolated cell, Hershel gives the doctor a cup of the freshly brewed tea. The doctor tells him Hershel shouldn’t be in there before coughing up saliva and blood. Hershel uncovers his bandana and wipes the blood splatter off his face. Hershel continues being the doctor and gives a cup of tea to Glenn, along with a cold towel for his face. Glenn feels rather bummed that after all he’s survived through, a “glorified cold” would take him out. Hershel tells him not to think like that and that they can see through it. Outside the cells, Carol walks by with the water when Rick mentions to her that going outside the fence was a stupid thing to do. Rick then talks to her , telling her that she goes above and beyond, especially for the children in the jail. He then asks her if there is anything she wouldn’t do for the survivors. Carol said she wouldn’t. Rick then asks; “Carol, did you kill Karen and David?” “Yes,” Carol replies. She turns around and walks away, leaving Rick stunned at her confession.   

Janes Notes: WELL, I'm glad I didn't make a bet on who killed Karen and David and all I have to say is ...... CAROL?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Was anyone else gaping with their mouths open at the TV like I was?

"The Walking Dead: Infected" Episode Recap

It is night time and someone is out and about the prison yards and feeding rats to the walkers lining up the fence…this can explain the alarming amount of walkers seen lately against the fence. Meanwhile, Ty and Karen are having some quality time in the library while everyone is asleep. They soon part ways to go back to their cells. Karen goes to the showers to wash her face with water. She hears a noice and when she investigates where it’s from, she sees nothing. She continues to wash her face and leave…which catches the attention of Patrick, now a walker. Patrick rises up and follows her to the cell. But someone coughing in their sleep catches the walker’s attention…the walker goes in their room and has a nice feast.

To make matters a lot better in this situation, while Rick and Beth are tending to baby Judy elsewhere, the eaten up man awakes as a walker…so there’s two walkers loose. Glen and Maggie are up at the tower and Maggie just wakes up. They share some tender moments before Glen goes down the tower and Maggie keeps watch. Michonne takes her horse and is ready to make another run and asks Rick and Carl if they want anything. Michonne takes off while Rick and Carl go to the farm. They both notice that there’s a big herd of walkers leaning on the fence. Rick and Carl go feed the pigs when Carl apologizes. He then asks when he can get his gun back. They hear gunshots from the cell block. Rick rushes as Daryl, Ty, and Sasha run out and go to the cell with Rick. Carl opens the gate for Michonne to enter but a walker sneaks behind her. Two walkers are on Michonne as she kicks them back. Carl gets out a rifle and shoots one while Michonne kicks the other in the traps. Maggie rushes to help Michonne and seal the gate.

Michonne rides back to the rescue. 

Hell breaks loose in the cells as men, women and kids are screaming and scrambling to safety as walkers are on the loose and attacking. Rick, Daryl, Sasha, Ty and Glen scramble to save the people and kill the walkers. Meanwhile, Carol takes a man in the cell. The man is bitten in the arm and Carol creates a tourniquet. After everything quiets down, the crew make sure that all the cells are checked and that all the walkers (and dead humans) are bashed in the brain. The man in the cell Carol is tending to asks Carol to watch over his two little girls since they have no one else because he sees how Carol looks after the kids like “they are her own”. Carol grabs the girls so they can say goodbye.

New threats are exposed in the once safe cell. 

Rick notices a walker in the cell and stabs it. But…there was blood down his mouth as if he choked in his own blood. They noticed it on a walker outside and on Patrick too. A couple more men come in (doctors I assume) and observe that the walkers had a serious illness before they died and are all exposed to this mysterious virus. Meanwhile, the two girls, Lizzy and Mika, cry as they see their dying father in the cell. Lizzy grabs her dad’s hand. “Take care of your sister,” the dad whispers before taking a final breath. Lizzy volunteers to stick the knife to the side of his head so he won’t turn but she begins hyperventalating. The girls cling onto each other and cry as Carol finally ends it for them.

Rick goes out to check on Michonne, Maggie and Carl. He breaks the news to Carl that Patrick was killed and that he was a good kid. But Rick warns them that they have to remain a good distance so they don’t exposed to this virus. Carol, Daryl, Glen, Hershel and Sasha discuss this mysterious virus and how to resolve this issue. But before they can come to a serious conclusion, they hear Karen severely cough in the hallway. The crew goes out and see Karen and Ty. They tell the two that Karen may be exposed to the virus and that she needs to be placed in a separate cell where they would treat her as best as they could. Hershel wants to conduct another meeting later for a solution. Carol is concerned about the girls and their well-being. 

Carol and the girls are outside in the yard. Carol tells Lizzy that they have to talk about what happened. Carol tells her that their dad told Carol she is in charge and that Lizzy “lost her nerve” back at the cell and her life relied on her acting and not hesitating. “He’s dead…he’s dead…why did we kill him?” Lizzy cries as she runs away. “She’s messed up, she’s not weak,” Mika tells Carol.  Meanwhile, Daryl (wearing gloves and a bandana) is digging up more graves. Rick stops by to check on him. Daryl thanks Rick for all he has done for the screw. Rick admits he “screwed up too many times” and how he almost lost his boy. Daryl said he earned his time away to recollect. But before they can talk more, Maggie yells out for them. The outside fence is caving in. Rick and Darly joins her, Glen, Ty and Sasha as they slaughter the walkers.

Beth is in a cell wrapping up Michonne’s ankle. Michonne regrets “being so stupid” and how Maggie and Carl should’ve left her or they could’ve gotten hurt. “When you care about people, hurt is part of the package,” Beth said. As Beth finishes wrapping up, baby Judy starts crying. This obviously strikes a nerve with a stoic Michonne. “Does she always cry like that?” Michonne asks, looking away with tears in her eyes. “She probably picks up on other people’s feelings,” Beth suggests as she picks her up.

While the crew is out at the fence killing walkers, Sasha is appalled at finding the dead rats and demands who has been feeding them. Before she can get an answer, the fence begins falling. Rick tells Daryl to get the truck because he has an idea.

Back in the prison, Carl is hammering a cross for Patrick’s grave, even though Patrick was an atheist. Carol checks in and tells Carl about training the kids to use weapons and how she kept it a secret because some of the parents would disapprove. Carl says that he doesn’t want to lie to Rick but Carol assures him that he’s not lying to Rick, he’s just not telling. Ultimately, Carl feels it’s none of his business and that it should be between Carol and Rick.

As Michonne does situps, Beth is singing to a quiet Judy. But then Judy begins crying and spits up food at Beth. Beth rushes to Michonne as Michonne reluctantly holds Judy so Beth can clean off. Michonne’s lip trembles and tears fall down her face as she holds Judy close to her. Beth notices and just lets Michonne have her space.

Outside, Maggie opens the gates as Daryl rides a trick with Rick on the trailer and they drive on the field. Daryl makes a stop to distract the walkers in their way. Rick gets out a pig, slashes part of its skin and drops it in the field for the walkers to eat. Rick does this a few more times, dropping off a couple more pigs and slashing them to the side. The pigs are used as bait to distract the walkers away from the fence while Sasha and Glen try to lift it up.

On the other side of the prison, Carol is talking to the girls about the walkers. Carol mentions to Lizzy that she didn’t mind that the walker called “Nick” had died. Carol is trying to expose Lizzy to death and the walkers as a way of desensitizing her (at least, that’s what it looks like).

Back at the pig pen, as Rick is tearing it down, Carl tells Rick that Carol has been teaching the kids weapons in secret. Rick thanks Carl for telling him and Rick mentions that he won’t say anything or stop her. Rick lights a match and burns down the pen. He then opens up a toolbox and gives Carl back his pistole. Rick holsters up himself and takes his trusty colt. He then takes off his blood-soaked shirt and throws it in.He looks on and sees more walkers pressed up against the fence, wondering what is next in their bleak reality.

Ty walks to Karen’s cell with a boquet of dandelions…only to see her body is missing and there is a big trail of blood. Ty turns on the lights and follows the trail. It leads him out back to the courtyard and before him, lies two bodies that were doused with gasoline and lit on fire…on of the bodies being that of Karen…




Janes Notes: Um, wow, this was a pretty squeamish episode for me and it hasn't been that way for me since the TJ/Lori death episode. This was an intense one for sure...you got kids involved eating people and making more walkers...kids losing parents...the walkers are growing by the numbers and threatening the prison yard perimeter...aaaaaaaand now it looks like we have a new virus that mother nature is throwing into the mix. I can't say much on that since well, it's mother nature. 

Call me cray-cray but I think the Governor is behind the murders. He knows where the prison is at. He's not one of those people that busts in but waits, waits and waits for the buildup, getting rid of anything interfering and then when the occasion calls for it, he strikes back in a ginormous way. That's his MO. Chances are, he found more henchmen, promised them a place of sanctuary (the prison) but instead of just attacking it, being sneaky about it is the best way to go. Dude is a villainous asshole but he's also super sharp. 

Quite note, the piggies being used as bait upset me the most in the episode.

"The Walking Dead: Clear" EP Recap

Michonne is driving Rick and Carl on a road to check for areas with more guns and ammo. They see a man on the side of the road who yells at them to pull over but Michonne coldly drives by him. Carl looks back but not a word is said. They then stumble upon a 2 crashed cars and a third one turned over on the side of the road. Michonne drives around between the cars to get through but gets the car stuck in mud. A walker is pinned down to the rolled car but is still thirsty for the three humans. As Michonne tries to accelerate the vehicle, walkers slam against the vehicle. Rick tells the two to cover their ears as he rolls down the window slightly and shoots at one. Rick and crew take care of business and slay the walkers and then look for equipment in the three cars. While Rick and Carl try to get the vehicle out of the mud, Carl asks Rick why they brought along Michonne in the first place. “We have common interests and problems, maybe we can work them out together…I didn’t want to leave her at the prison with you,” he explained. The man from before runs down and yells at them for help. Rick and Carl get in the car and take off, leaving the man behind….

Rick, Michonne, and Carl stumble upon an abandoned town. They go through a jail at Rick’s Police Department, hoping to find a full gun safe but have no success. Michonne asks if there are other police stations. Rick said there wasn’t any and it wasn’t a big town but they still can look around at bars, shops and other places Rick know people had permits. Rick asks Michonne if she has a problem with it. “No Rick, I don’t have a problem,” she replies as she hands him a round.  They walk past a wall that has graffiti written on it that says “away with you” and they discover burnt, charred bodies inside. They follow arrows set on the sidewalk. They come across an area where there’s spikes sticking out, rat cages set up, and signs set up barricaded by cars. “It looks like someone’s already made it theirs,” Michonne remarks. Rick said to just get in and get out. They go under ropes and strings. Rick points out a gun store. A walker sneaks up behind them but they wait until a trap is set up. A mysterious man shoots at it from on top of a building. He demands that Rick and crew drop their weapons and counts down to ten. At “seven”, Rick pulls out his gun as Carl and Michonne take cover. The shooter hides and Michonne is on top of the building, unsuccessfully finding him. The shooter sneaks from the first level and shoots at Rick. He’s approaching a barrel Rick is hiding under but Carl shoots the mystery shooter. Rick told Carl that he wanted him to run for the car but Carl said he had to stay. The man is wearing body armor so he’s alive but the impact knocked him out. Michonne asks if they should care about the man’s well being. Rick unhooks the man’s helmet to discover it’s Morgan, the man who saved his life right after Rick woke up from his coma and discovered the apocalypse had occurred…..

Rick and the two try to enter the building Morgan is in but it’s set up by spikes and booby traps. Michonne said they thought they were going to go in and get out but Rick said that Morgan saved his life so they couldn’t leave him…or Morgan’s son….behind in the streets. Meanwhile, Carl is on guard over Morgan’s body, pointing a gun at him. Rick sees a Welcome mat is set up as a trap. As they try to lift Morgan up the steps, they come across a sheet that says “not shitting you” and barely miss a string. They step over it. They discover a bloody axe is attached to it. Rick tells Carl to watch the wire. They go in his room full of weapons and grenades from the police department and more. They lay Morgan down on a bed. Carl and Michonne began stocking up on ammo and guns. Rick takes notice of the strange writings on the board, especially as the word “CLEAR” showed up more than once. As Rick tries to take the guns, he notices the walkie talkie that he gave Morgan. He also notices two words written in front of him “DUANE TURNED”. Rick tells the two to not take the weapons and go. They are going to wait for him to wake up to see if he’s okay.

Michonne argues that they nearly killed him and didn’t leave him to the walkers so he had a good day and that they needed the guns more. “The axe, the spikes, the walls, Rick?” Michonne remarked. “I think he’s dangerous…he wasn’t like this then.” Rick is firm on his stand of waiting for Morgan to wake up. Rick then ties up Morgan’s wrists together. Carl notices a layout of the town on the board…and notices that “Rick’s house” is burnt out as well as few houses on the block. Rick asked Carl if that’s why he wanted to join…Carl said he just wanted to come. Carl wants to go on a run around the corner to pick up a crib for Judith. Michonne says she will help. Rick agrees to it and says to yell if there’s trouble. Carl and Michonne go walking through the town. Carl mentions to Michonne he doesn’t need his help. Yet a walker shows up and Michonne takes care of it. She notices Carl tries to sneak around the corner. Michonne catches up and asks him what he’s up to. Michonne mentions he passed the baby store. Carl said he wants to get Judith something else first. Michonne follows Carl.

Rick sits down next to Morgan and tells him he’s sorry for what happened. Morgan is awake, grabs a knife connected to the bed and cuts loose the ties. Rick checks out a rifle Morgan has. Morgan charges towards Rick but Rick hits him with the rifle. “YOU’RE WEARING DEAD PEOPLE’S FACES!” Morgan yells. “Remember me, do you know who I am? You do know me!” Rick yells as he slams Morgan on a wall. Morgan tries to stab Rick in the heart, yelling he turned. Rick sticks the knife into his shoulder, slams Morgan’s head against the knife handle and gets up the point the gun at Morgan: “you crazy son-of-a-bitch, you helped me!” Rick yelled. Morgan submits and cries: “please kill me….”

As walkers crawl outside and get trapped in the spikes, Rick bandages up his wound as Morgan begs Rick to kill him. “Just….kill….me….” he pleads. “You found me and fed me, you told me what’s happening, you saved me!” Rick said. “My name is Rick Grimes, do you know me? I gave you this….turn it on everyday at dawn so you could find me,” Rick explained as he showed the walkie talkie to Morgan. A light bulb lights up in Morgan’s head; “I know you, Rick, I do know you!” Morgan exclaims, “you said you turned yours on at dawn….I woke up to it….on the move every day, every week, me and my boy for weeks. Then we just…heard nothing but static…you were never there! YOU SAID YOU WERE TURN YOUR RADIO ON EVERY DAWN AND YOU WERE NOT THERE!” Morgan yelled. Rick explained how he tried but kept getting pushed further out, how he found his wife, his son and people and how he had to get pushed out deeper into the country. Morgan kicks the radio at him and says to have it back. “Did she….did your wife turn?” Morgan asked. Rick said she died. “So you didn’t have to see that then?...of course not…” Morgan muttered. “Not like me, not like my wife…you remembered what happened to her? You remembered what she was?” Morgan mentioned Rick gave him a gun and that “he tried”. Morgan explains how Rick gave Morgan the gun so he could shoot his wife. Morgan explained how he was checking into a cellar for food and he left Duane upstairs. He walks up from the cellar to see Duane pointing a gun at his walker mother. Duane couldn’t do it so his mother got him. “I’ve seen red, red, ALL I SEE IS RED!” Morgan yelled. Morgan said he was selfish by not shooting his wife. Morgan asks Rick if Carl died. Rick said no. Morgan says he will soon because “the good people died and the meek inherit the earth”.

Carl and Michonne approach a restaurant and Carl takes a peek inside, seeing walker patrons sitting at the tables and bars. Carl tries to open the door but Michonne isn’t having it. “Think I was going to let you in there?” she asks. “You don’t know me, you don’t know my dad, you came here for ‘common interests’” Carl shoots back. “We have the same enemy and problem and that’s it! This is important and I’m going to do this and you can’t stop me!” Carl continues on. Michonne tells him she can’t stop him but he can’t stop her from helping him. Michonne opens the door and rolls in skateboards with rat cages in them. The walkers all swarm around the cages. Carl and Michonne sneak around to the side of the restaurant over to the back while the walkers are distracted. They don’t notice that there’s a bartender walker near them. Carl climbs on top of the bar to retrieve a photo. The walker grabs Carl’s leg. Michonne stabs him. The walkers still are distracted by the rats. Michonne and Carl try to sneak back but a rat has been on the loose. The walkers storm after the side and walker chefs come out form the kitchen. Michonne and Carl run to the other side of the restaurant and escape. Carl is frustrated that he dropped the picture and wants to go back in. But Michonne tells him to wait outside the double doors of the restaurant. Michonne sneaks around back in the restaurant for a few moments and comes back, giving Carl a picture frame of Rick, Lori and Carl at the restaurant. “I just thought Judith should know what her mom looked like…thank you….” Carl exclaimed. Michonne mentioned she wanted to go back in anyways to retrieve a gorgeous, multi-colored cat sculpture. Michonne and Carl walk back to Rick, satisfied with their loot.

Rick tells Morgan he’s not going to kill him. “I think you’re supposed to come back with us!” Rick said. Morgan joked that he tried to shoot Rick and stab him so he was generous on his offer. Rick said that them not killing each other was a sign. Rick mentioned the prison and that Morgan can go back with them. Morgan asks Rick if that’s where Lori died. Rick said yes. Morgan tells Rick to just go. “Look, the fences keep the walkers out and you can heal…” Rick says to Morgan. “You’ve taken a lot of guns Rick,” Morgan remarked. “Why do you need the guns? Because if you got something good, then someone wants to take it!” Rick mentions that they can win and Morgan can help. “You guys can get killed by teeth or bullets and that can happen to you but that’s not something I’m going to see again!” Rick tries to convince Morgan that they can still work together and that Morgan can come back from his struggles. “This can’t be it…it can’t be…you gotta be able to come back from this,” Rick tells Morgan. But Morgan refuses: “I have to clear…” he remarks. “That’s why I didn’t die today. That’s the sign…I have to. I have to clear.” Rick finally acknowledges Morgan’s stance and gathers his equipment collected.

At the edge of town, Rick is gathering his bags as Morgan straps on a walker’s body to a rolling bed. Michonne and Carl walk back carrying a crib. They start walking away as they see Morgan strap more walker bodies together. “He’s okay?” Michonne asks. “No, he’s not,” Rick replies. Carl calls out to Morgan. “I had to shoot you. You know I had to, right? I’m sorry,” Carl says. “Hey son!” Morgan calls out. “Don’t ever be sorry…” and goes back to collecting walker bodies. The three walk away solemnly and pack their bags in the trunk of the car. “Everything okay with her?” Rick asks Carl about Michonne. “She might be one of us,” Carl says. “Everything went okay.” Rick seems satisfied to hear this. Michonne walks up to Rick and talks to him. “You see something?” she asks. “I know you see things, people….I used to talk to my dead boyfriend..it happens.” She explains. Rick asks Michonne to drive so he can see things. The three drive away from Rick’s old town. They pass the building with charred bodies and notice that Morgan is there, dumping the fresh walker bodies there. They pass through the accident scene, the accident scene. They notice trails of blood and the hitchhiker’s torn and bloodied body….and his backpack. They stop, pull back and retrieve it and drive on back to the prison.

Janes Notes: For an episode with not a whole lot of walker slaying involved or Daryl Dixon, I think this is one of the best episodes of the season, hands down. First things first: the hitchhiker.

I actually talked about this to MM briefly and she mentioned it was very foul they left the poor guy behind. It was interesting because my first reaction was “decoy” of the Governor, since Merle warned the group to keep a lookout for scouts. I've been browsing some of the comments left about the episode and seems like viewers are divided on it with their own theories. The scouts could’ve been hiding the woods and using the hitchhiker as bait. Or the hitchhiker was a lone survivor desperate for a helping hand. Whether the hitchhiker was a decoy or not, we’ll never know but this has shown Rick’s character development. Anytime he’d tried to take people in since it is his duty as an officer, it would be a “dis-as-tuh!” (copyright Big Ang). Since this was such an important trip for Rick to go back to his hometown with Carl with him, he didn’t want to take the chance. Not after how vulnerable the prison had become. 

Let's talk about Morgan. I don't know about you guys but this episode felt very nostalgic, to say the least. I really didn't predict that Morgan would be back, I figured by season 1, him and his son either turned or they sought refuge somewhere else. NEVER did I predict he'd turn the town into a holding fort the way he did. The actor who plays him is a damn fine actor too! I really like how Rick respected his decision in letting him go in the end. It was almost symbolic. Rick still has fight in him because he now has two kids to live for, as well as others relying on him....but Morgan has nothing left. He doesn't want anymore pain, heartache or attachment but he figures his duty is to clear the rest of the world the walkers so no there is no more hurt. 

As for Michonne....GOD, I love this woman! Seriously, she had become one of my "she-roes". She just doesn't give a sh*t who she pisses off and is a straight shooter or straight stabber. She doesn't rely on anyone but herself but she will also help someone if needed. She does have heart and I think we're seeing more and more of it as the season goes on. I think she and Rick will connect but I don't think it will be in a romantic way; I think it will be more in a way like Daryl and Carol.

"The Walking Dead: I Ain't No Judas" EP recap

Inside the prison, the crew regroups after a surprise attack by the Governor. Daryl and Merle have joined the crew. Rick and Glenn think that they should stay at the prison and Hershel disagrees. The crew is debating what the best course of action is. Merle is locked in a separate cell, telling the group they should’ve left when they had the chance and that the Governor probably has scouts set up along the road. “I ain’t scared of that prick,” Daryl chimes in. “You should be,” Merle replied.  “That truck through the fence thing? That’s just him ringing the doorbell!” Maggie yells that they should put Merle in a separate cell since it’s all his fault. Beth says it doesn’t matter whose to blame at this point and to just come up with a conclusion. Hershel says they can’t sit there and wait for more people to die. Rick storms off before Hershel gets up and yells at him to get back. He tells Rick that he’s slipping away and they all know why and understand; “You once said this isn’t a democracy, you have to own up to it! I put my family’s life into your hands….so get your head clear and do something!” Rick goes outside in a gated small area to check the prison. He takes out his binoculars and looks at the yards and in the woods….he thinks he sees something go behind a tree. Carl comes out. “Dad, can I say something and promise me you won’t get mad?” “I won’t get mad,” Rick replies. “You should stop….stop being the leader,” Carl explains; “Let Hershel and Daryl handle things…you deserve a rest.” Carl walks away, with Rick taking in what he just said.

The crew looking on....

Back in the Governor’s officer, Milton is filling out paperwork. “We have several people with chronic conditions…it gets us about 26…” “Include men and women over age 13,” The Governor demands. “That’s about 35-36 then,” Milton replies. “Make sure they all have sidearms and ammo. We’ll have Martinez train with them when he’s ready.” Andrea pops in the room and demands to know what happened at the prison. “You said no retaliation!” she yelled. “They shot us…I don’t know who these people were when you were with them but they’re bloodthirsty!” Andrea demands Milton if he knew. Milton said he didn’t know anything until this morning. The Governor warns Andrea not to drag Milton into this. “This is between you and me….” Andrea continues; “I am sick of the lies, and I’m not going to watch this town and my friend gun each other down….I don’t know what you’re trying to prove but enough is enough!” The Governor said it was too late. Andrea says she’ll go to the prison herself and needs one car. The Governor said the roads are blocked and it’s too dangerous. “Andrea, you go to that prison, stay there.” The Governor warns. Andrea walks outside and observes the guards are supplying equipment to the people. A woman is arguing with Martinez on how her son is only 14 and has severe asthma. “The Governor wants everyone with a gun in front of the town hall, now!” Martinez commands. The woman calls Andrea over. “They want Noah to fight,” The woman told her. “What fighting?” Andrea said to Martinez; “I thought you’re teaching these people to defend themselves?” Martinez tells Andrea to wake up and they will defend with an army.

Back in the prison, Rick commands Maggie “eyes up, head down,” as she takes her gun and goes on guard. Rick said the yard they once cleared is infested with walkers. The crew is debating what to do next. “We can’t access the field without burning through our bullets,” Hershel said. Glenn says that they are trapped with little food and ammo. “We’ll go through this again,” Daryl said. “That was before there was a rat in the nest!” Glenn spews back. “Merle is staying, he’s with us….get used to it, all y’all!” Daryl snaps as he walks away. Glenn and Rick argue about Merle living with them. Hershel tells them that not only does Merle have military experience but also has his loyalty to Daryl. Glenn still thinks of using Merle as a bargaining chip to trade off with the Governor in exchange for a truce. Back in Merle’s cell, Hershel hobbles in to talk to him. “You’re the farmer, Hershel.” “And you’re the black sheep, Merle.” Merle asks about his leg. Hershel said he was bit and Rick hacked off his leg to save his life. “He gave me more time with my girls and gave you more time with your brother,” Hershel said. Hershel pulls out a pocket Bible he found in a cell. Hershel admits to losing his way in faith and began quoting: “if you’re right hand defends you, cut it off, and cast it from you; word is profitable that one of your men lose…..” “And with that, their bodies should be cast into hell…Matthew, 5:29 and 30,” Merle finished: “Woodbury had a damn fine library…one of the only things I miss about it.” Merle explained that if the Governor returns, he will kill everyone one by one and save Rick for last. “This is who you guys are dealing with.”

Back in Woodbury, The Governor observes a small group of Woodbury citizens. Milton tells the Governor about an old woman: “This is Mrs. McCloud, she’s the one with the arthritis.” The Governor tells her “thank you dear, we’ll find another way you can help us.” Andrea chirps that Noah has asthma. The Governor asks him if he ever shot a gun. He says he had a BB gun but his mom took it away. “Then you’re going to learn from the best!” The Governor replies.

A new Merle?

Back in the prison, Carol walks over the Daryl’s cell. “Haven’t had a chance to say glad you came back!” Carol said. “To all this?” Daryl said. “This is our home,” Carol said. “It’s a tomb,” Daryl replied. Carol said that T-Dog said the same thing and she thought it was the same until Daryl found her. She also advises him that Merle isn’t good for him and to not let Merle bring him down because he’s come so far.

Back in Woodbury, Andrea demands Milton about whether or not that he knew about the prison incident. Andrea asks Milton to cover for her because the Governor can’t know about it. Milton says he doesn’t want to get involve and it’s not worth getting into. Andrea tells Milton Woodbury has turned into an armed camp with child soldiers: “is this what all your work is for?” she asks. “Please, help me get out of here! I can’t take a car, they won’t open the gate…I need to speak to Rick!” Milton says that it’s a betrayal. Andrea says it’s to keep the peace and prevent more people getting killed. Back in the officer, the Governor checks out his severely scarred eye. Milton knocks on the door and walks in. “You asked me to keep tabs on her,” Milton said: “she’s going back to the prison and has requested my assistance in escaping, her words, not mine.” The Governor tells him to help her. Milton asks if this is some sort of test. The Governor tells him to help her anyway and that he did good work on keeping tabs.

In the woods, Milton is hiding behind a tree, trying to bait a walker in with a pole “walker holder”. He calls for Andrea. As Milton holds him down, Andrea hacks off both the walkers arms. She then puts a rock under the walkers mouth and uses her boot to smash off it’s jaw. Another walker walks towards them before Andrea hacks it. Andrea grabs the walker holdin’ pole and uses it to defend her and Milton as another walker approaches. Tyrese jumps out and stabs it. The rest of Tyrese’s crew follow.

Back in the cell, Michonne is working on her pushups and Carol is getting food when Merle takes a seat next to her. “Smart to stay fit,” he remarks. Michonne continues working out without saying a word. Merle continues that if they are going to be living under the same roof, that Michonne has to understand that Merle hunting her down was strictly business and he was just following orders. “Hmph, like a Gestapo?” Michonne asks. “Exactly,” Merle replies. “I’ve done a lot of things I’m not proud of, before and after…anyways, hope we can get past it…let bygones be bygones,” he says.

Back in the woods, Milton explains to Tyrese and crew that the walker bait was used as a tactic. One of Tyrese’s men asks if they have a camp. Andrea and Milton talk about Woodbury. Tyrese asks if they take people in. Milton says he will take Tyrese and the crew back to Woodbury and Andrea will go onto the prison. Tyrese asks Andrea if she needs an extra hand. “Nope, I’m good!” she replies and heads to the prison.

Back in the prison, Carl is using binoculars to help Maggie patrol. He tells Maggie there’s something “weird out there”. Maggie looks through her scope and sees that it’s Andrea. Maggie tells Carl to get Rick and the others. Andrea walks through the yard up to the prison gate in a sea of walkers. Rick and crew immediately run out, guns drawn, ready to attack. “Are you alone?” Rick demands. Andrea yells to open the gate. Daryl and Merle open the gate and immediately, Rick tells her to turn around, searches her and makes her kneel with her hands up. Andrea says she’s alone. Michonne is taken aback at the sight of Andrea. “Welcome back, now get up,” Rick tells her. Andrea walks in the prison cell and is greeted by open arms with Carol. The whole crew surrounds Andrea as Andrea takes in her new surroundings and the state of the group. She asks about Shane, Lori and T-Dog. The group remains silent. Hershel tells her that Lori did have a baby. “You all live here?” Andrea asks. She asks if she can go in. Rick refuses to let her in. “We had that whole yard and area cleared until your boyfriend drove through with a truck and shot us all up!” he exclaims. “He said you fired first!” Andrea said. “He shot first,” Rick said. The crew tells her he also shot Axel, whom they’ve come to like. Andrea says she didn’t know anything and as soon as she found about the shootout, she came to the prison as soon as she could. Andrea then storms to Michonne and asks her what she told the group. “Nothing,” Michonne replies. “I don’t get it…” Andrea remarks. “I’m the odd man out?” “He almost killed us and Michonne…” Glenn remarked. Andrea points the finger at Merle and how he almost beat Glenn to death. Andrea says she cannot excuse what “Philip” has done but Rick doesn’t want to hear it. “We’re going to kill him,” Rick says. “I don’t know how or when, but we will.” Andrea still thinks they can settle this. Merle says she should know better. Hershel asks Andrea about the possibilities of Philip negotiating. Andrea doesn’t know. Daryl chimes in that one of them will take out his other eye and that they are ready to take him down. Andrea tells Rick that if he doesn’t attempt to sit down with the Governor, she doesn’t know what will happen and the crew has already lost enough. Rick says that if she’s want to help, to help get the crew in and Rick storms off.

The once quiet prison yards filled up again

Back in the prison, Andrea is seething at Michonne and is accusing her of “poisoning Rick”. Michonne just said she was telling the truth. “I didn’t choose him over you, I wanted a life! You became hostile!” Andrea said. “Because I could see it,” Michonne replied; “you were under his spell from the moment you laid eyes on him…you still are…what about these people? I didn’t realize the Messiah complex was contagious.” “Go to hell,” Andrea said. “He sent Merle to kill me,” Michonne continued: “He would’ve killed you too if you came along with me. You chose a warm bed over a friend…that’s why I went back to Woodbury. Exposed him for what he is. I knew it would hurt you.” Andrea glares at her as she walks away. Andrea then begins breaking down.

Back in Woodbury, the Governor welcomes Tyrese and the gang to Woodbury and provides them fresh clothes, food and water but mentions that they need to keep the equipment and ammo to “gear up for war”. One of Tyrese’s friends noticed that the town recently took a hit. “It wasn’t by biters, it was by dangerous people out there,” The Governor remarked. “They came at us a few days ago.” Milton mentions that there were fatalities. The crew mentions they ran into a “whackjob at a prison”. “You saw him?” The Governor says. Tyrese said everything was okay until the “leader” came back and shoved a gun in his face. The crew tells the Governor how they found the prison and used it for shelter but Rick screamed at them to get out. The Governor suggests they get some rest and talk it over.

Back in the prison, Andrea walks up to Carol, whose holding Judith, to hold the baby. Andrea holds the baby in her arms and coos to her. “What happened to Lori?” Andrea asks Carol. Carol said Maggie had to do the C-Section and Carl had to shoot her. She also tells her about how T-Dog risked his life for Carol and that back at the farm, all hell broke loose when Shane tried to kill Rick. “But Shane loved Rick!” Andrea remarks. “Shane loved Lori,” Carol replied. Carol suggests to Andrea to give him the night of his life and while he’s sleeping, she can end his life. Andrea has to go back to Woodbury so she gets in a car and tells everyone to take care. Rick gives Andrea a handgun and tells her to be careful. Merle opens the gates so she could drive off.

A secret plan 

It’s nighttime in Woodbury when a vehicle approaches the guarded gates. One of the guards shines a light at Andrea and commands her to have her hands up. They notice it’s Andrea and let her in. Andrea walks back in the Governor’s room where he’s sitting in a chair. “I went to the prison. They’re broken, living in horrible conditions.” Andrea says. “Michonne and Merle there? Rick?” The Governor asks. Andrea says they are. Andrea said her coming back to Woodbury was her call. The Governor asks why. Andrea doesn’t reply. The Governor gets out of his seat and caresses her face. “It’s because you belong here,” he replies, embracing and kissing her.

Back in the prison, the crew are sitting and standing around a lantern. Rick comes out holding Judith. Beth begins singing a song. Rick walks up to Hershel and Daryl. “Some reunion, huh?” Daryl mentions. Hershel acknowledges they are on in a jam. Rick wants to go on a run and tells Daryl to stay and keep an eye on  Merle. Rick mentions that he’s very glad that Daryl is back but if Merle causes problems, it’s on Daryl. Rick wants to include Michonne and Carl in his run and gives Daryl the role of holding down the fort.

In Woodbury, Andrea is in bed with the Governor. She wakes up in the middle of the night, the Governor still asleep. She gets out of bed and grabs a knife. She tries to stab him but all she can do is stand and look at him, knife in her hand. She backs off and walks away to the window, pondering what she should do next. 

Jane's Notes: I need to keep this short and sweet because I have a little less time on my hands today than usual. 

Andrea needs to have a talk with Big Ang and the rest of the Mob Wives to discuss what loyalty is....let's just say if you looked up the word in the dictionary, Philip's picture won't be in it! I also think that Michonne knows how to give someone a verbal smackdown. I think Merle is cooling down a bit now that he's with his brother. Although it was interesting how he accepted Michonne's comment on relating him to a Gestapo and he didn't make a smart aleck remark on her race...maybe he knows she won't take kind to his racism the way he spewed it in Season 1? Maybe he's learned his lesson? I'm on the fence about Merle. 

I think next week though will be one hell of a sh*tstorm so I'm looking forward to it! :D
