Lets look for Joey/Meghan or Pam/Winnie to be eliminated.

LEG 7 (Maun, Botswana )

Starting with 7 teams:
Bates and Anthony depart first and must go to the Boro Village for the next clue. Winnie and Pam think that they are so smart that the show should be just about them. Caroline and Jennifer are the fourth to depart and they are allies of Bates and Anthony. Max and Katie are the last to depart and will have to do a speed bump for coming in last, last week.

Meghan and Joey apparently can’t drive anywhere without GPS.

Caroline and Jennifer get a speeding ticket.

FAST FORWARD: Water ski in crocodile-infested waters.
The grandsons of Sam Battaglia, decide to take the Fast Forward. Hockey brothers Bates and Anthony must water ski in crocodile infested waters. They compare themselves to Italian sausage for crocodiles. They do the task and get to go directly to the Pit Stop.

Caroline and Jennifer go to the police station to pay the speeding ticket.

Max and Katie get stopped for speeding and now they have to pay a ticket, which delays them even more.

ROADBLOCK: sail a Mokoro, a canoe that is particular to Botswana, down the Thamalakane River and trade two goats for the next clue.

Teams must make their way by water taxi to the next clue.

In the speed bump, Max and Katie have to wear grass skirts and do a seductive dance.

Thanks to the Fast Forward, Bates and Anthony are team number one.

Chuck & Wynona, Mona & Beth, Caroline & Jennifer and Pam & Winnie are at the next Detour. Max and Katie and Joey and Meghan are way behind.

DETOUR:  “Brains” or “Brawn”. In Brains they have to find animal cutouts that they have memorized and must place in the correct order in which they were seen and in Brawn they have stack wood in a wagon and use donkeys that are lead by a carrot to carry the wood.

Mona and Beth are team number two.

Caroline and Jennifer are team number 3.
Chuck and Wyonna are team number 4.
Joey and Meghan are team number 5.
Max and Katie are team number 6.

Pam and Winnie switch challenges and arrive last.  They are eliminated from the race.  Now if the show were all about them, as they said it should be at the beginning of the episode, the show would be over.

In the last episode there was a Double U-Turn…

Pam and Winnie U-Turn Meghan and Joey. Meghan and Joey U-Turn Chuck and Wyonna. Lets see how that plays out this week.

Leg 6 (Hanoi, Vietnam → Maun, Botswana )

Pam and Winnie are the first to depart. There are 3 flights that are departing to the next stop where they will get their next clue.

Bates and Anthony are the 4th team to depart. They are still working with Caroline and Jennifer, who are the 5th to depart. So the two families set out together to beat the other teams.

Chuck and Wyonna and Meghan and Joey all find out about the U-Turn.  They put a contract out on the teams who slighted them by vowing to bring them down.

The country singers help the hockey players find out what country they are going to. Caroline and Jennifer and Anthony and Bates are on the first flight.

The hockey brothers are currently in first place, while the country singers are in 2nd place.

ROADBLOCK: Search for a scorpion in the Kalahari Desert.
“Who Wants To Make A New Friend”. Teams have to dig up a scorpion, a bushman’s best friend.

Bates does this challenge and is instructed by the bushman to dig in a hole for the scorpions, and he does it. Caroline does this challenge. Max is right behind them.

Bates and Anthony are in first place. If they can keep up this pace, they will be neck and neck with Caroline and Jennifer and Max and Katie. For some reason Katie thinks her PhD is getting her through this race. Really?  Did she get a PhD in scorpions?


DETOUR Fire:  Involves starting a campfire by rubbing sticks together.
DETOUR Fowl: Build and set a snare to catch a guinea fowl.

Almost all teams choose Fire. Bates and Anthony are on their way.

Anthony starts this task.  It takes a lot of stamina.

Bates and Anthony are the first to start the fire and now have to go with the bushmen to a Safari Camp that is the Pit Stop for this leg of the race. Before they leave they try and tell the country singers how they started the fire. Bates and Anthony are team number one.

Pam and Winnie are team number 2.
Chuck and Wyonna are team number 3.
Joey and Meghan are team number 4.
Caroline and Jennifer are team number 5.
Mona and Beth are team number six.

Max and Katie are the last team to arrive, but this is a non-elimination leg which means that they will get a speed bump on the next leg, which is an extra task that they will have to do.

Next week: Stay tuned when Chuck and Wynonna can’t row a canoe and no one knows how to work with donkeys.

Dave and Connor depart first. Dave needs to have surgery and this team is reconciled to the fact that this will be their last leg.

Max and Katie announce that they will definitely U Turn a team.

Anthony and Bates are the 7th team to depart and if they don’t make up some time, they could be U Turned.

Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) to Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) Racers are on their way to Vietnam.

Trang Tien Plaza, Hanoi .

It looks like there will be an equalizer here.  All teams have to wait for the next clue in the morning.

Dave and Conner are eliminated from the race due to Dave’s injury.

Anthony and Bates are thrilled that Jessica and John have been eliminated and think that their alliance will now fall apart.

ROADBLOCK: Scan piles of photos and find one that says, 'Glory to the younger generation', which is written in Vietnamese.

Winnie and Pam are the first to get through the roadblock.
Anthony and Bates are the fifth to get through the roadblock. Anthony does this roadblock.

Now they have to do a bamboo dance.
Bates and Anthony move to 4th place.

The detour:  involves playing human chess.
The detour:  find ingredients and make a Vietnamese soup called Pho Ga.

Bates and Anthony are currently in 2nd place and running…

Pam and Winnie are way ahead and are in the lead.

Double U-Turn…

Pam and Winnie U-Turn Meghan and Joey. Now Joey and Meghan have to complete the detour that they chose not to do in order to check in. Meghan and Joey U-Turn Chuck and Wyonna.

Pam and Winnie are team number one.

The Battaglia brothers find that they have not been U-Turned.

Max and Katie are Team number two.
Mona and Beth are team number three.
Bates and Anthony are team number four.

Joey and Meghan are starting the second detour.
Wyonna and Chuck have not finished the first detour and do not know that they have been U-Turned.

Caroline and Jennifer are team number five.

Chuck and Wyonna find that they have been U-Turned and think that Joey and Meghan have U-Turned them.

Joey and Meghan come in as team number six.

Chuck and Wyonna are the last team to arrive – but since Dave and Connor have withdrawn from the race this is a non-elimination leg and they are still playing.

Next Week: Botswana jungle, eating scorpions ?  Lets look for Joey/Meghan or Pam/Winnie to be eliminated.

In Episode 4: This is the longest leg in Amazing Race history.

This leg is a continuation from last week. Bates and Anthony are the 3rd team to depart. They are on their way to Bali.

Bates and Anthony are on the second flight scheduled to arrive 3 ½ hours later than the first flight.

They are headed to the Monkey Forest. They have to place coconuts in the open and have the monkeys open the coconut. The clue is in the coconut.
Roadblock: Sandy bottom or fruity top
In Sandy Bottom: Transport sand from a river to a brickmaker.
In Fruity Top: Assemble a 'Gebogan', which is a religious tribute.
Bates and Anthony are the last team to get to the detour. They will have to make up a lot of time. The brothers do the Fruity Top.

Dave and Connor are team number two at this point and deserve a lot of credit.  They are racing with an injury. Bates and Anthony are in last place and are doing Fruity Top.

Roadblock: Racers must pick a surfboard, which represents a location from a previous pitstop, and carry it down the cliff to the beach. This will be a memory challenge.

Dave and Connor are team number one and win $5000.00 each.  Pam and Winnie are team number two. Max and Katie are team number three.

Bates And Anthony are making up time.  Jessica and John are arguing and losing time.  This is the team that is gunning for the hockey brothers. Now Wynonna and Chuck are going after the Battaglia brothers. The alliance of the Battaglia brothers, Caroline and Jennifer, are having a melt down.

Caroline and Jennifer are team number four.

Bates and Anthony are in 8th place at this time and gaining time.

Bates picks up the right surf board and puts it back.

Joey and Meghan are team number five.

Mona and Beth are team number six.

Bates and Anthony are team number seven.

Chuck and Wynonna are team number eight.

John is in denial that he may have lost.

Jessica and John are the last team to arrive and have been eliminated with an express pass that they never used. They will go down as one of the dumbest teams in Amazing Race History. This is the team that was going to bring down the Battaglia brothers.

Recap Prior Episodes:

Episode 1: Teams fly from Los Angeles to Bora Bora.  Jessica and John, win an express pass and an opportunity to give an express pass to another team.

Anthony and Bates Battaglia are the grandsons of Sam Battaglia, a former member of the Chicago mob – and hockey players.

The first roadblock involves skydiving. Anthony sky dives while Bates rides in the water taxi. The next roadblock involves searching for the next clue through hundreds of sand castles. The Battaglia brothers arrive in 6th place and leave in 2nd place and go on to the next destination. The teams must now assemble a Polynesian Outrigger and sail to the pit stop. Bates and Anthony arrive as Team number 2.

Episode 2: Jessica and John depart first to look for a wedding chapel to receive the blessing of the priest. The quote of the episode is made by this couple.

Bates and Anthony do not seem to be forming bonds with any of the other teams. Hopefully this won’t put a target on their back.

In Detour A racers, (Hockey brothers Bates and Anthony) must retrieve two red pearls from an underwater pearl farm before receiving the next clue.  In Detour B the racers have to dive and locate a treasure trunk where they have to set up an underwater picnic.

Teams must now take a water craft to the island of Motu Tapu to get their next clue. Joey & Meghan finish first. Bates and Anthony are surprised on how quickly Joey finished the last task and are giving them the evil eye.

Road Block: teams must balance on traditional Polynesian sparring stilts and kick a coconut across a beach in order to receive the next clue. Anthony does this challenge and thinks that his balancing skills will help his crew into the lead position.

Connor and Anthony finish the challenge at the same time and David hurts his foot.  This makes Bates and Anthony Team number one and capo di tutti capi. Connor and David are Team number two. The twins have to be rescued from the water.
 
Idries & Jamil are the last team to arrive and they have been eliminated.

Asked of Anthony Bates :
What country and place would you most like to visit and why?
Italy, because it is so beautiful and my grandparents are from there.
The grandfather would be Sam Battaglia, the former mob boss of Chicago.

Anthony Battaglia takes another opportunity to show us his missing teeth. Ironically, his grandfather’s nickname, ‘Teets’, supposedly comes from the fact that Sam Battaglia, a former member of the Chicago mob, allegedly threatened to knock out people’s ‘teets’.

In Episode 3:  

Dave starts out with a severely pulled muscle and is advised to see a specialist.  Both David and Connor are cancer survivors.

Bates and Anthony depart first, and have to travel to Christchurch, NZ, by way of Paptete, Tahiti.  John tries to ruffle the Battaglia Brothers by saying that they may be on an earlier flight than the brothers are. Jessica and John are now enemies of the Hockey players.  Jessica and John have kept their word and have given the express pass to David and Connor, knowing that they won’t be able to use it. Dave cannot put pressure on his foot and must walk on crutches at all times.

Jessica and John are plotting with others against the Battaglia Brothers.  The original alliance is going to try and get the brothers eliminated.

In Detour Jet, racers are jet boating on the Rakaia River.
Caroline and Jennifer seem to feel comfortable with Anthony and Bates and they have formed an alliance. Dave and Connor are currently in the lead. Bates and Anthony are currently in 8th place.

The Hockey players make their way to the detour of their choice "Rev It Up" or "Reel It In" – They either have to run a course in under 83 seconds or catch a fish. The hockey brothers do Rev It Up, but Connor and Dave cannot because Dave cannot drive a clutch with a huge boot which has been fitted for his injury.  Dave and Connor use the express pass. John and Jessica are in 2nd place at this point. Bates and Anthony are in 5th place, Caroline and Jennifer in 7th place. Bates and Anthony have to be aware of the other racers – soldiers of John and Jessica who are gunning for them, and while Caroline and Jennifer have the hockey players’ backs they aren’t enough muscle to defeat Jessica and John and their underlings.

In the next Road Block, Racers must participate in a Shemozzle Race which requires one team member to dress as a Kiwi sheperd and run through a wild obstacle course which includes molasses and feathers and then collect eggs. Once they deliver all their unbroken eggs to the finish line, they will receive the next clue: Anthony Battaglia does this road block. Dave and Connor are in 1st place at this point. Bates and Anthony are in 8th place.

At the Pit Stop, Team number 1 is Dave and Connor and they win a trip to Thailand.While checking in at the Pit Stop in Christchurch, New Zealand, they find that the race is still going.  No Eliminations.  Race TBC.

The question is, will Dave and Connor continue the race…

What is the accomplishment you are most proud of?

‘I’ve played in 600 pro hockey games and won a championship this past season with the New Jersey Outlaws.’  The New Jersey Outlaws???  Really ???  I guess that’s better than the Chicago outlaws that Sam Battaglia played with.

This week: the racers are still in Bora Bora and are rumored to go to New Zealand.

The Amazing Race 22: Recap Business in the Front/Party in the Back, Ep 1

In the first leg of the race, the teams fly from Los Angeles, CA (Griffith Observatory) to Bora Bora (French Polynesia). The teams watch a video clue that will lead them to their next destination. The winners of the first leg of the race win an express pass and an opportunity to give an express pass to another team. The Express Pass, provides the team who earns it, the opportunity to skip a task – a crucial time saver.

Anthony Battaglia shows us his missing teeth – apparently lost in a hockey game.  Ironically, his grandfather’s nickname ‘Teets’, allegedly was given to Sam Battaglia, because he allegedly threatened to knock out people’s ‘teets’.

There are two available flights to Bora Bora and Team Battaglia is on the second flight, which will cost them, in terms of time.

The first roadblock involves skydiving. A Roadblock is a task that only one team member may perform. There is a certain limit on the number of roadblocks that any one person can perform throughout the race.

One member must skydive from a helicopter while the other takes a water taxi to the landing destination in order to receive the next clue.

The brothers muscle in and get their name on the helicopter list for the second crew that arrives. Anthony takes a whack at sky diving while Bates rides with the skipper in the water taxi.

At this point in the race, Jessica and John, the Dating Team, are in first place.

The next roadblock involves searching for a next clue located in one of hundreds of sand castles. Apparently it is very hot and working on the beach seems to be a daunting task. The Battaglia brothers arrive to this task in 6th place and leave in 2nd place and are on the lam moving on to the next destination. They definitely seem to be stand up guys.

The teams must now assemble a Polynesian Outrigger and sail to the pit stop.

Jessica and John are team number one, and win the express pass and the second express pass for another team of their choosing.

Bates and Anthony are Team number 2:
I bet that they have agita after this.

David and Connor are Team number 3:
If Jessica and John stick to their word, this team should get the 2nd express pass.

Pamela and Winnie are Team number 4.
Mona and Beth are Team number 5.
Joey and Meghan are Team number 6.

Chuck and Wyonna are Team number 7:
Wyonna is the late John Wayne’s grand-daughter.

Idries & Jamil is Team number 8.

The following three teams quit their task and two of them will take the penalty:

Caroline is Daniel Boone’s descendent – team number 10
