Mob Wives: Aleeya Graduates!

Absolutely beautiful!

There is no question that Drita has done a wonderful job raising her girls Aleeya and Giselle, under difficult circumstances. She has had to be both mother and father to her girls. Every fan who has expressed an opinion about the show seems to comment that they enjoy the scenes with Drita and her girls the most. You can see how much she loves her children and enjoys spending time with them. Today Drita is extremely proud of her older daughter, Aleeya, who graduated yesterday from elementary school. Drita shared a picture on Twitter for fans.

I'm sure I speak for everyone here at the blog when I say, "Congratulations" to Aleeya for all her accomplishments on her special day. We wish her nothing but the very best in her new school and we know her future will be filled with hope and promise. Way to go, Aleeya!

Mob Wives: Drita Shares Family

"My beautiful Aleeya" tweets Drita

First Drita shares a picture of herself and Aleeya, calling Aleeya, "My first TRUE LOVE."  We all have seen how Drita interacts with her children.  She is very warm and loving and it comes across, The fans love it and want to see more of it.  Drita told me that the scenes with her children are her favorite.

And Drita also shared an old commercial her brother made in Italy.  She says it's "My brother's soccer commercial in Italy long time ago for Diadora..he playd proffessional."  Drita told me, during and interview, that she and her brother are very close.  He is her best friend.  The commercial is really impressive!  If Drita kicks anything like her brother, I am so very glad she takes her shoes off!  Kicks like that could kill.

Mob Wives: Drita D'avazo's Vacation Photos

Drita and her girls recently took a vacation to the Turks and Caicos island in the Caribbean.  She tweeted a couple of pictures of her time away.  And I don't know anyone who can say she doesn't look gorgeous in her bikini, seriously, Drita is in great shape!  But, you know what else I noticed?  She is so much more beautiful without all the makeup.  The saying that "less is more" really does apply here, in my opinion.  Natural beauty should be accentuated a little bit, but not covered up.  Take a look at the next picture...

I think it shows a softer, natural beauty than the pictures where the makeup is overdone.  I think she even looks younger.  Of course, I am not a cosmetices expert, but I would like to see what our readers think of this.  Meanwhile, Drita's girls are as delightful as ever and looks that they had a great time with their mom.

Drita tweets: "No matter how much stress I encounter...
I have these 2 faces to look at n its all better:)) God is Great."

And that's the truth! No matter how bad things get in life we can always stop and count our blessings!

Mob Wives: Turks & Caicos Mobbed!

Rita Hayworth back in the day.
Recently, a couple of Mob Wives beauties vacationed in Turks & Caicos.  I imagine the ladies needed a getaway before Mob Wives season 2 began filming.  Carla Facciolo & Drita D'avanzo a.k.a. Drila took the kids along too.  I have to be honest if I ever vacation in Turks & Caicos, I'm not bringing the kids.  Though I have tons of respect for these ladies for doing so.  They could've easily dropped off the kiddies at the grandparents' digs.  Yes, I know we're usually rough on Drila around here.  But hey, it's our perspective.  At least when we see good in them we blog about it too.

Carla giving us a Rita Hayworth pose.
Carla and Drita played in the sand with all of the kids.  They even went down enormous water slides.  Big kids they are I tell you!  The children were Big Willies ordering virgin Pina Coladas & Shirley Temples up a storm.  Man, I want to be a kid again.  The mothers got their grub on during their all inclusive 6 day vacation.  You think if I blog a little nicer around here,  they'll take me next time?  Please stop laughing at me.

Where is Turks & Caicos?  It's southeast of the Bahamas.  Typing of the Bahamas, I could sure use a Bahama Mama right about now.  A Mike's Hard Lemonade just may have to due for now.  Back to T & C it's a string of islands with a long rich history including various cultures & people.  Long ago the islands were stripped of their population thanks to slavery.  It was also once a popular hideout for pirates.  I think in the 17th century it was repopulated.  Is repopulated a word?  Sorry, if it isn't.  I am just to sick & tired to give a d@mn right now.  I know you comprehend what I am trying to type.

Aleeya & Giselle are their mother's favorite girls in Turkey 'n' Cakes.
The Mob Wives Blogspot truly hopes the ladies and their offspring had a good old time.  Drita shared on Twitter that Giselle asked, "Can we go back to Turkey n Cakes tomorrow?" after returning to Staten Island.  I have to admit that tickled the sh!t out of me.  Whatever I think of Drita, I have to admit she's doing something right.  The little we see of her girls they seem like wonderful children.

They live the life don't they?  I am not writing that they don't have normal ups & downs in life.  I am not writing that they are not allowed to travel and enjoy other luxuries.  As I've written before with various families & single parents worrying about childcare; buying their children shoes and/or putting food on the table it's hard for many to identify with the Mob Wives.  Their lives seem to have problems.  But I don't see a lot of struggles beyond them getting along.

P.S. Miss Carla Facciolo be getting fiesty with me!  I love it.

Mob Wives: Drita D'avanzo 'Mixing It Up' Interview

I sit patiently waiting to be connected to Drita D’Avanzo. I am imagining all the times I have seen her on the phone: talking to Lee, talking to Carla, talking to Renee, and soon she will be talking to me! I hear the connection and introduce myself.

Hi, Drita, this is Chiara from The Mob Wives Blogspot.
Hello.

I just want to thank you for taking the time to be interviewed. We created the blog just for your show.
Really?

Drita seems surprised and flattered. We have been following the show since before it aired and as fans, we always want to know a little more about you.
Okay.

This show has been a whole new experience for you and put you in the spotlight with mediaHow are you dealing with being recognized by the public?
I’m getting used to it now, it was a lot to take in because I’m not an attention seeking person. It was weird hearing my name being screamed out all day. But the fans get so excited, but they have been so nice. The biggest compliment I get, or could ever want to get, is about my “realness.”

Is the show what you imagined it would be?
I knew the show would be successful, it’s something that has never been seen before. It’s as real as it gets, it’s not scripted, I don’t know where people get that idea. They have no idea how real it is. It’s been very stressful for me and a big adjustment. I can’t hide my feelings and I guess that makes for good TV.

Can you tell us your favorite scene from season 1?
The scene with the raccoons because it made me laugh so much. I am all for laughing, I enjoyed it.

Have you learned anything about yourself from doing the show?
I have learned that it is very difficult to put my pride aside. I am a very prideful person. But I want to lead by example for my children, so that is something I have to work on.

Can you tell us anything about what we might see in season 2 about you?
You will see my new life ahead of me and me closing the door on my old life.

You have spoken about working on a new cosmetics line, I’m sure that’s exciting.  Do you have a name picked out for your new cosmetics line yet?
I am going to call it Just Me Cosmetics with the focus on strong, independent women. I have had this idea for 15 years. I know women, who when their husbands have gone to prison, they sit at home and spend all the money. But I was never that kind of woman. I put myself through school and got a job while Lee was away, to better myself. I want to build this business for my kids and show them, by example, about being strong and independent. I don’t ever want to have to go to Lee for anything.

What kinds of products are you planning to introduce first?
My first product will be for lips, called Just Lips and the names of the lipsticks will be after the girls who are special in my life, so of course the first two colors will be names after Aleeya and Giselle. I have worked with high end lines of cosmetics and I want my line to be high end quality at affordable prices.

When do you think you might be ready to promote it?
Soon. Maybe within the next couple of months. My website already exists.

Viewers love seeing your girls, Aleeya and Giselle, interacting with you on the show.
What kind of mother/daughter activities do you do with each of the girls at home?
I do so much with the girls at home. I love spending time with my girls. We bake and make rainbow cookies, we wash the car every day--it’s fun for the girls, dancing, playing soccer, sleepovers, reading, and movie night when we put all the pillows on the floor. Aleeya came home one day from a friend’s house and told me please do not change! I guess I am more fun than her friends’ moms.

Aleeya is a very bright girl and I’m sure you are very proud of her.  Can you tell us about a moment when you were especially proud of something she did?
Aleeya is very strong minded, I always cry when I watch the scenes with her in it. The most proud I was of her is when she asked Lee when he was coming home and he answered, “soon.” When Aleeya answered, “Soon is not good enough,” I was so proud of her, she sounded just like me. Aleeya is mature and an old soul.

Giselle is such a pretty little girl and she seems to have a big vocabulary for her age. Can you remember anything especially funny she has said to you?
She cracks me up all the time! She is always saying something funny. The other day I was on the phone and she says, “mommy, mommy?” But I wasn’t answering. So she puts her hand on her hip and says, “Drita from Mob Wives, I have to go to the bathroom!” even her expression are funny. Fans have actually told me that they don’t like the show, but they love the kind of “mommy” I am.

You have mentioned your family on the show and how your father disowned you years ago.
What is your relationship with your father like today?
My father disowned me because he disapproved of who Lee was and he could not condone what Lee did. He wanted to know why I would choose such a lifestyle? He was hurt. They day he disowned me he also paid me the most compliments, he told me how beautiful I was, how smart I was, I could go to college. And everything he told me would happen if I married Lee, happened. But he has a heart of gold and I know he would be there for me if I ever needed him.

I hope you and your father make up one day soon.
Yes me too, maybe in season 2 we can reconcile.

Does he see his grandchildren?
He loves his grandchildren and Aleeya stole his heart. He is crazy about her, she is gifted and in a gifted program.

Can you tell us about your relationship with your mother and what have you learned from her?
I always say I wouldn’t be the person I am without my father, but I wouldn’t be where I am if not for my mother. I am very close to my mother. She always says, when she watches the show, she never knows what will come out of my mouth, and I have been that way since I was little. My mother told me, that when it comes to parenting, I am just like her.

You recently mentioned you were very close to your brother. Can you tell me about a favorite childhood memory you shared with him?
My brother is two years older than I am and I would play soccer on his team. He would call me his little brother. He is my best friend.

After watching the finale and seeing your pain, it would be hard not to ask about Lee. Before I do, I just want to say how sorry I am, not only for what he did, but how you found out about it.
Thank you.

How are you doing today?
The initial shock is over, but I am still heartbroken obviously. But, I am focusing on work and making money. I have to deal with it, like many others have had to do. So I am looking at the positive right now and moving on.

Can you tell us if you have spoken to Lee about his cheating and, if so, what did he have to say about it?
I told him he made so many horrible decisions and this was the worst and stupidest decision he has ever made. He knew I would never tolerate cheating. Now he is losing out on a diamond while he is collecting stones. We haven’t spoken since. Now he can have the other woman send him packages.

In the finale, we see you go to a lawyer for advice. Have you made any decisions regarding your marriage?
You will see this in the second season, but I am probably going through with it, I don’t see how I couldn’t.

The finale also did not end well for you and Karen. Have you spoken since the fight and do you think you will be able to get past all the things that were said?
I saw Karen at the Wrap Up party. I saw how uncomfortable her daughter, Karina, was and so was Aleeya, with us being there together. So I decided to be the bigger person and apologized for the sake of our daughters. I don’t like getting that angry and out of control. Right now I have to deal with Lee and I need to move on. I have no energy to continue the fight with Karen. I wanted to show the children it’s easy to be bad and it’s hard to be good. It’s not easy watching myself; and I am just glad, for Karen, that there were 5 people there to pull me off her.

Fans always want to know lots of little things about celebrities. So I’d like to ask you for your favorites on a list of things.

Season: Spring

Is there anything you want viewers to know about you that we haven’t seen on the show or read about?
I have had friends for over 25 years and I am very close to them. They are in my inner circle. The show doesn’t show how much I value friendship.

One last thing, now that season one is over, are you glad you agreed to do the show?
Yes, I am glad for the opportunities it brought to me. I’m looking at the positive things in my life and working on putting my pride aside.

I joke and say, as long as you don’t have to take your shoes off, we’re good.
I wore flats in the finale, that’s why I didn’t take my shoes off.

Oh, so we need to check your shoes before we say anything out of line! We share a good laugh at that. And then it’s time to end our interview. I think that about covers all my questions for today. Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to talk to me. It’s been a pleasure getting to know you and watching you on the show. I wish you the best of luck with your cosmetics line and with the show in season two.
Okay, then, thank you.

Mob Wives: Recap 109 Take This Book And Shove It

Renee tells Karen about Junior's "text messages"

We start off at Carla’s house. She is getting ready to take the kids to go pick up Joe, after he has spent the last 6 years in prison. She expects him to be different, he needs to adjust and to get to know the kids. Carla wants Joe to sit them down and tell them where he has been and why. She doesn’t know how they will take it.

Renee meets Tiffany Osborn, her former boss, from when she was doing wardrobe for 50 Cent and G Unit. They catch up on things, like Junior’s arrest in January. She gave up being a celebrity wardrobe stylist the last time Junior got out of jail, now she is ready to get back to work. Tiffany feels Renee makes Junior’s problems her problems, she is a drama Queen and it interferes with her work. But, it looks like she may be getting Renee some styling jobs in wardrobe soon.

At Drita’s house, Drita calls Carla to talk about Joe while she is driving home from the halfway house. Drita is more excited than Carla about Joe’s release. Carla says Joe looked good. Drita says they don’t age in prison. Drita wants to know if Joe put the moves on Carla. Drita is getting flashbacks of when she went to pick up Lee from prison last time. Carla says her son woke up at 6 am so excited about going to get Joe. Aleeya is happy for Carla’s kids and so is Drita. Drita feels sad for Aleeya because Lee isn’t coming home any time soon.

At Renee’s house, Karen arrives, and they have wine. Karen asks about Junior. Renee says that Junior said he was going to work on “us” and was going to get rid of all the other women. Renee tells Karen, then Junior went away for two days and, when he comes back, his phone rings twice during the night with texts from 2 women. He said he had to get up and make two calls. Renee is angry that he is making a fool out of her again and she doesn’t need that. Karen says he won’t change, it’s a pattern with him, she tells Renee that she is the one who has to change.

Carla is driving back home from the halfway house and the kids are crying because Joe isn’t coming home with them. They took the news about his being in jail good. It broke Carla’s heart to see her son cry. It’s a big adjustment on the kids, but they want Joe home and want to be a family and that’s not happening.

Drita and Karen meet for drinks. They talk and realize they have a long history as friends. Drita even lived with Karen at one time. They only really had that one fight a couple of weeks ago and that was about Lee.

At the therapist, Renee says she found a text message from another woman on Junior’s phone. The therapist answers, “and yet you can’t move on.” She tells her that she dates men who are chaotic and neglect her. Renee says she was a happy-go-lucky person and now she is disgusted and disappointed because she allowed this to happen. Renee wonders is she so afraid and insecure that she allows a man to walk in and out of her life anytime he wants? Now she says she is really done. The therapist says she doesn’t need him.

Carla and Drita meet at the gym. Drita almost seems happier than Carla that Joe is home. Drita explains how weird it was when Lee first came home and how difficult it was getting used to being home. Joe told the kids he was in a place where people get punished for doing bad things--jail. Jojo says he wants to go to jail, his impression of jail is that it is like a camp. They tell him he never wants to go there. Joe has to get used to being a father now that the kids are older. If Joe goes to prison again, Carla says she would be devastated for her kids.

Renee and AJ go to her favorite restaurant, Il Cortile, to talk. Renee had wanted AJ to follow in her father’s footsteps at one time, but no more. She wants AJ to go to college and get away from this “life” and the bad stuff that goes on. She wants him to live a good life. Jail is not an option for AJ. AJ tells her that he never had the mindset to go into that “life” and that he is going to college and be legit and have a family.

Drita and Karen meet at a restaurant. The book is coming together, Karen says. Karen tells Drita the first chapter is finished and she gives it to her to read. She wants to see if Drita has any questions and is comfortable with what Karen wrote. Drita says she freaked out when Karen handed her the chapter and it brought back to mind their issues about Lee and the book. Drita seems stunned not knowing how to respond. Karen tells her they settled on a title, “Shadow Of The Bull.” Karen tells Drita to be honest about chapter one.

Renee is excited about getting back to work as a wardrobe stylist. GhostFace, the rapper calls and he has a video coming out. He wants Renee to do the wardrobe for next week‘s shoot. The first day of the video, Renee is driving when Nikole calls. Nikole is on the same page as everyone else about Junior. Renee is getting the same input from all her friends. Renee gets to work and looks like she has never taken a break from her career. She gets Ghost a little thank you gift. Styling is something she loves to do, coming up with a great look…and she it keeps her distracted from Junior’s BS.

At Drita’s house Aleeya is doing math, Drita hates it. Lee calls and Drita hands the phone over to Aleeya so he can help her with her homework. But, Aleeya wants to know if Lee was upset when his friend ratted on him. Lee answers that he was more upset with himself for not seeing it coming. She also wants to know when he is coming home. He had told her at the end of fifth grade and she is in fourth grade. Lee hesitates, then he says he has no idea, then he says he’ll be home soon. Aleeya answers soon isn’t good enough.

Back at Renee’s house there is a little spring cleaning going on. Renee is taking all of Junior’s clothes out of the closet and dumping them in a suitcase. He has been playing her for a sucker and she is no sucker. The girls were right, she knows what she needs to do. She packs all his things and takes them downstairs to the door. Then she leave Junior a message to come and get all his things. She says she is setting a good example for her son that she is strong and doing what is right.

At Karen’s apartment, Karen is sitting around wondering why Drita is avoiding her calls and not getting back to her about the book. Karen is confused. She says if Drita has a problem she hopes she will call and discuss it.

Carla and Drita meet for coffee and to discuss Karen’s meeting with Drita. Drita tells Carla that Karen gave her the first chapter of her book and she didn’t read it. She is afraid she will see something she doesn’t like in it. “Why didn’t she give it to Renee?” Drita wants to know, “she’s her girl.” Carla and Drita discuss whether or not Drita should read the chapter. Drita doesn’t want to know anything about what happened 20 years ago or have it come back to hurt her children. She wants to protect her children and her husband’s name. Drita feels “attack mode” coming on and she is ready for a war. Drita does not want Aleeya to know everything about Lee.

Drita is now riled up and says she doesn’t trust Karen and so she can’t trust the book. Carla adds fuel to the fire! She tells Drita, you let her in and then she turned on you. Drita is getting that “Hulk” look in her eyes and then says, “I will smash her head in and then say this is how I feel.”

Well, that was an interesting episode and here‘s my two cents. Let me start with Carla. She is the mother of the twins and I think she should have told them about Joe’s prison time instead of lying for 6 years. Instead, she makes Joe tell them in the car on the way home? I don’t get it. Also, why didn’t she wait until Joe came out of the halfway house to get the kids involved. She could have picked him up herself. Two or four more weeks would not have made that big a difference, and then they could have spent real quality time with their father instead of a short time in the car. This was a bit traumatic in my opinion. Another thing, Carla is a trouble maker. She doesn’t even know what’s in Karen’s book, but she is getting Drita more and more upset about it. Why?

Drita is bent out of shape because Karen wants to write about Lee in her book. That’s too bad. Lee was part of Karen’s life for seven years. What is she supposed to do about that? It’s a book about her life and Lee was part of it. If Lee has things to hide, that’s on him. He’s the one who did the bad things that Drita doesn’t want her daughter to know about. It’s not like Karen is making up lies about Lee to sell her book. And, from what Karen revealed in earlier episodes, Lee was not that good to her. She owes him nothing. Karen has to do what is best for her and Karina right now. She can show her daughter how she turned her life around and is earning a living and being successful despite her past. That’s her priority as a mother, to provide for her daughter’s future. From what I saw of the finale clips, this isn’t going to end well at all between Drita and Karen.

Renee, what can I say about a woman who can’t get over her first love? And it’s not her fault. Junior knows her well and he knows what to say to manipulate her feelings for him. I hope this is the last time she gives him the opportunity to take advantage of her. However, I can’t help but be skeptical of this whole “move-in, move-out” drama. I think there is a good chance that the “move-in” was scripted because that certainly got everyone’s attention. Then, when that blows over, we have the opportunity to script a “move-out” scene. I can’t help but think that the time between the two events was brief since Junior got arrested in January and didn’t move right in and then taping ended in April. Of course, the “move-out” scenario could have been much more dramatic then it was. Let me ask you this. If your significant other went away for 2 days and came back and got two calls during the night from women, would you not throw them out right then and there? Especially since you were being mislead yet again about the relationship. Why the wait? Why discuss it with the therapist? Just kick his ass to the curb right there and then, in the middle of the night. That would have made a great scene, like the one where Carmela throws Tony’s stuff out the window. Sigh. Enough is enough!
