Mob Wives: What's In A Jacket?

I've been watching promos, super trailers, teasers of Mob Wives "New Blood" and I can't shake the feeling that I've seen this "fashion look" before. I'm trying to get a handle on the wardrobe of the new cast. I have a question, what's with the leather jackets? When I look at the above picture...Ooooooops, wrong picture, I meant to post this one:

Leather jackets are a far cry from the look of the original Mob Wives in season one, all decked out in the finest gowns, fur coats and bling. What meaning or message are we to take away from the change in apparel? I'm getting mental images of motorcycles, the Fonz, Keanu Reeves (Matrix), Jimmy Dean, Brad Pitt (Fight Club), The Terminator and even The Pink Ladies from Grease. I'm not the only one looking at the new cast in leather and thinking Pink Ladies either. Grease is the "Word." I don't know what to make of it. Is this supposed to mean they are "bad ass" rebels with a cause? Are they a gang? Does it send the message they are cool? Are they going to rumble? Should we think they are tough? Is the look retro, just for the promos or is this attire laughable? I'm no fashionista by any means, but I'd be interested in your thoughts.

In closing I would like to add, quite frankly, I was happy with the "Old Blood" cast and their stunning clothing just the way they were...with the exception of maybe the oldest blood, Carla, I don't mind her spilling off the show.
